A collaboration between MILTZ and Card Experiment exploring the artistry of two Japanese eras, Sengoku and Edo.
This project brings together two designs that reflect different periods of Japanese history through a shared design language.
Edo Karuta was originally developed in collaboration with MILTZ and released through a previous partnership. In this campaign, the design returns in a refined form, carefully adjusted to sit alongside a new companion deck.
Sengoku Karuta is developed in response to the visual culture of the Warring States period. Where Edo reflects stability and cultural refinement, Sengoku draws from an era shaped by conflict, structure, and transformation. Although each deck follows its own direction, both are built on a shared underlying system, allowing them to remain distinct while still feeling connected.
Together, Edo and Sengoku form a quiet contrast between order and tension, refinement and power, expressed through a consistent visual language.
